Mechanical Design: Leading Edge was the mechanical consultant for this project which included running chilled water piping from the central plant in Cuiccacali, underground to Zura residence hall on the SDSU main campus. Zura acted as the hub with a new pump room to Tenochca and Maya and Olmeca Halls. Upon recommendation from Leading Edge, it was decided to run chilled water pipes through the interior mechanical corridor of the Tenochca building rather than on the exterior as determined by cost analysis. New pump selection and design layout for central plant chiller room was also completed.
Electrical Design: Electrical details were included to show power and conduit design for a new pump room in nearby Zura hall.

Electrical Design: Electrical load calculations. Lighting consultation to establish lighting building parameters. Electrical plans for lighting and power. Panel, equipment schedules, single line diagram. Coordination with architectural and mechanical systems to provide power and/or conduit diagrams. Site lighting design.
Other
Design Aspects: We also included fire protection design
and security. Landscape irrigation stub outs and site plan for
connection to existing irrigation was also shown.
Encinitas, CA
Completed
mechanical design services including heating, ventilation, air
conditioning, and plumbing for 20,000 square feet of office
space, classrooms, and conference rooms. We also provided the
electrical design, including lighting design and power distribution
for entire building and site lighting. Designed the split system
air conditioning for classrooms and conference rooms with individual
thermostat in order to have better temperature control and a
higher comfort level. Duct liners were used in supply and return
plenum to minimize any sound from fan coil units. We placed
the heat pumps on the roof in a hidden area. Large package units
were used for high ceiling entrance areas. Our Title-24 Energy
Calculation confirms the compliance with building codes and
the California Energy Commission.

Project Location:
Carson elementary School is located at 6905 Kramer Street, Linda Vista, CA 92106
Project Overview:
The project will consist of architectural and engineering services for the removal and replacement of the existing heating unit in the mechanical room to include the boiler and associated plumbing and equipment. Additional work to include a new intake hood, louver system and control system for the air handling unit serving the auditorium building at Carson Elementary School. Install new boiler system. Install new SDCS district standard automated energy management system.

Our scope of work included field investigation, specification, cost estimate, construction services, submittal reviews and construction observation and the following design scope of work:
- Replace outdated electrical systems.
- Replace P.A. system in auditorium.
- Replace fire alarm panel.
- Replace panel feeders throughout the site.
- Provide dedicated circuits and receptacles for computer labs and classrooms.
- Provide safety/security lighting at exterior of school.
- Replace sub panels and panel feeders on 20 portables and 7 permanent buildings.
Our designs were based on code compliance to meet State and
Federal safety regulations. Technology infrastructure will be
installed in accordance with the District = S Technology Plan.

Leading Edge
Consulting Engineers, Inc. provided electrical and plumbing
design to be installed in 23 portable/relocatable classroom
buildings. We designed water pipes, sewer pipes, sizes
and calculations. The project included gas, sewer, and
water riser diagrams.
We provided drawings of the site communications, fiber optics,
voice, data and fire alarm layouts for the school. We also provided
electrical design with lighting and power distribution for the
23 classrooms.
Provided drawings
of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design retrofit services
in AutoCAD. We made investigations of existing mechanical, electrical,
and plumbing systems. Provided new heating/cooling load calculations.
Redesigned ductwork and supply and return air. Redesigned electrical
power and lighting as necessary. Revised plumbing.
Mid City Adult School
We provided
drawings in AutoCAD of mechanical, electrical and plumbing design
retrofit. We made field investigations of existing mechanical,
electrical and plumbing systems and layouts, and made calculations.
We recommended retrofit design based on our field investigations
and equipment change out.
Farb Middle School
We replaced
a low-efficiency 300-ton chiller with two high efficiency screw
type chillers. Energy saving calculation was performed with
pay back analysis along with mechanical design for mechanical
room.
Benchley/Weinberger Elementary
Energy Audits
for specified school sites, to identify energy conservation
measures and to reduce overall energy consumption.
Hoover High School
Science Lab Building
Designed power
distribution and lighting for a new science building with 4
labs/classrooms.

Replaced existing hot water heating system with new gas package units with thermostat and economizer. We also designed outside air requirements per UMC. The effected areas are now a gymnasium, a lounge, some offices, and a team room. We were able to provide gas piping calculations, sizing and layouts for all of the units, and provide condensate drains and details. Demolition drawings were created to help remove the existing heat exchanger that feeds off of the cooling tower. We also replaced three old, larger, inefficient air handlers in the Truax Theater building with three gas package rooftop HVAC equipment.
San Luis Rey School
We provided new gas package HVAC equipment with economizer and T-stat as well as duct layout and sizing for lounge, computer room and offices. Return air for all units and outside air requirement per UMC. We provided gas-piping calculations, sizing and layouts for all units, condensate drains and details.
Palm Quest
Mechanical design of a new gas package HVAC equipment with an economizer and T-stat for a lounge, computer room, and offices. We returned air for all units and outside air requirements per UMC. We provided gas piping calculations, sizing and layouts for all units, condensate drains and details.
